Massage Therapy

“Massage isn’t just a Luxury, it’s about promoting Wellness within Yourself”

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy has its beginning in ancient times. For centuries manual therapies have been serving us to improve our posture, get rid of aches and pains, manage injury recovery better, reduce muscle tension and enhance our mood. While muscles relax and stretch, the lymphatic system kicks in and drains toxins away from the body.

With that the oxygen flows, blood and all the good nutrients are being delivered to the cells, tissues, fibers and muscles helping them function better. With stress hormone (cortisol) levels going right down, and happy hormones ( dopamine, serotonin and endorphins) shooting up, you find yourself in your Zen Zone and you will feel amazing not only during treatment but also for days after.

I use only organic and natural massage lotions, body butters and massage oils and with a vast range of scents, you’ll be spoilt with choice. Not all treatments are designed for everyone, sometimes due to health history or underlying health conditions, even the gentlest massage isn’t allowed or there have to be certain precautions taken. In order for me to be able to deliver your treatment, I always carry out a full consultation prior to your massage. Once I have all the information I adjust the treatment to suit your needs in the best possible way for the most optimum results.

Treatments

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

MLD is an advanced therapy in which I use a range of specialized and gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to move the skin in the direction of the lymph flow. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels to carry substances vital to the defense of the body as well help in the removal of waste products.

Deep Tissue massage

This is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of body tissues. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tensions in the body through slower and deeper strokes on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibres of muscles, tendons and fascia.

Sports Massage

Apart from releasing and reducing any tensions, sports massage also treats injuries. These massages are a little more invasive and penetrate muscles much deeper therefore an adequate rest is needed after to allow a full muscle recovery, usually 24-48 hours.

Presotherapy

Presotherapy treatment is between 30 and 60 minutes long and it is very relaxing in itself. You will be asked to put on a compression suit which consists of a few separate elements, 2 arm sleeves, 2 leg sleeves and 1 abdominal wrap and while in a horizontal position.

TENS / EMS

TENS is used to stimulate the nerve itself in order to provide low risk pain relief. It works very well with sciatica pain, shoulder impingement and piriformis syndrome. EMS is part of a treatment (often sports or deep tissue massage). It is designed to stimulate the muscles by contracting them with high frequency electrical impulses for the purpose of strengthening and rehabilitating them.

Pregnancy massage

Pregnancy is a wonderful time for a woman, but with the joys of a new baby’s development comes many changes to the mother’s body putting pressure on joints, ligaments and organs, often causing discomfort and pain. Body and bump massage can be an enormous benefit not only for the mother but also for her unborn baby.

Full body relaxing ( swedish) massage

This is a massage for almost everyone. The pressure can be adjusted to your liking, from very slow and superficial touch to more energizing, deeper strokes. It can include front and back of legs, back, arms, shoulder, neck, head and face.

Oncology Massage (Cancer Massage Therapy)

Massage is often offered as a part of cancer care in cancer centres, hospices, community health services and some GP surgeries. Quite often, if you are a holder of private health insurance, you may be entitled to a few sessions through your policy.

I am qualified to the highest Itec Level 5 in more than one type of manual therapy and still I am amazed everyday with how human bodies work. Our ability to withstand the pain, recovery process and healing only proves what strong creatures we are. Looking after your body and mind  through exercise, therapy, massage, meditation and mindfulness is the best gift you can ever give to yourself. And if you give both your mind and body the right tools it will serve you for many happy and healthy years.

“I am a massage therapist, what's your superpower?”

“Investing in yourself is the best spent money you can think of ”
